Rigid contact lenses are made from a stiffer, durable plastic that allow excellent oxygen to the cornea. They offer better vision improvements compared to soft lenses in most cases. However, they take longer to adapt to and must be worn regularly to remain comfortable. They can be dislodged more easily than soft lenses as they are smaller and are designed to move on the eye.
Conditions such as myopia, astigmatism, aphakia, keratoconus, and irregular corneas benefit from RGP lenses. Our practice is able to fit any type of rigid contact lens and each one is custom designed for your eye. We have hundreds of fitting kits on site and use state of the art equipment including the newly released Medmont Meridia topographer.
